Brandix Group, the top exporter of Sri Lanka, once again widened their horizons of success in yet another one of their strategic clusters, with Lectra’s cutting edge technology. Brandix Rambukkana, of Brandix Essential cluster was recently given the opportunity to explore the feasibility of bulk production of a promising product which was in fact developed out of the group. The product which involved cutting complex shapes in small panels of higher quality and precision was subjected to a test cut on the Lectra High-end auto cutter located in their BLI manufacturing plant at Wathupitiwala that was purchased in 2012 (Replacing 2 Gerbers and 13 band knives at the time). As a result, Brandix Rambukkana immediately foresaw the value that could be brought forth by Lectra and went ahead purchasing the latest Lectra high-end lingerie auto cutter. The team worked closely with the Lectra Process Improvement team towards implementing the best processes and managed to get the machine installed and put in production just over a weekend. Hats-off to the key stake holders of the project at the Rambukkana plant for being one proactive, systematic and dedicated team that managed to achieve this Quick Change Over (QCO) with no idle time. Lectra will not only contribute towards Brandix Rambukkana achieving optimum level of resource savings, productivity (with 50 times more output than before), quality and precision but also will indeed pave way to an in flow of orders that may not be feasible amongst their competitors.
